Inversions and Backbends: Planting Roots and Growing Confidence
Friday, March 14 6:00–8:00pm $50
David explores the unseen world of gravity and shares ways to use this perpetual energy as a stabilizing force for establishing our roots from which we can grow into inversions and backbends with greater ease and more confidence. He teaches methods to expand the front of the body rather than collapse the back in order to discover greater depth in a backbend with less effort and more grace and efficiency.
Ashtanga Yoga Inside and Out: A One Day Immersion into the Practice and Flow
Saturday, March 15 8:00–11:00am & 1:00–4:00pm $150
A fun-filled exploration of the dynamic system of Ashtanga Yoga. Starting with an overview of the Primary Series, David offers user-friendly alternatives to the complex asanas and options for the vinyasas. He then leads a talk-through of the full First Series. David is well known for his compassionate approach and encouraging presentation. The afternoon begins with details about individual asanas and David answers questions. Then we partner up for an in-depth look at vinyasa, what David calls "The Physics of Flight." After this energetic section, things wind down with a discussion about the wonder of breath and its applications in yoga and daily life. The day ends with guided soothing pranayama and a deep relaxation.
Ashtanga's Greatest Hits Sunday, March 16 3:00–6:00pm $75
Curious about some of the more intricate or advanced asanas but feel intimidated by them or uncertain about how to approach them in your practice? David takes us on a guided tour of select asanas from the Primary, Intermediate and Advanced series. The class is designed for all levels of students. David has the ability to break down the essence and energetic foundation of any asana so that all practitioners feel comfortable and confident. The class concludes with a philosophical discussion and a chance for questions from students.
